What sustains us? What keeps us going? From whom do we seek what nourishes our person—body mind and spirit? Life draws energy and strength from us. We need renew and deepen our source for life. In our readings Elijah is exhausted as he flees from Jezebel and God sustains him for his journey and his continued ministry. In the Gospel, Jesus invites the people to draw life from him and be sustained in their lives.
Sadly, these people refuse that invitation because they think they know the full truth about Jesus. Are we experiencing the fullness of life which Jesus freely offers to us? What holds us back from accepting this gift? Are we satisfied with what we think we know? In doing so are we feeding on that which might have life and have it to the full. What is holding us back?
