Mary’s Trust and Commitment

As the celebration of Christmas approaches, Mary becomes the very embodiment of how a faithful disciple becomes open to the presence of God and bears that presence to others.  Her first response is trust and commitment. Her second response is to move outside herself to minister to the needs of Elizabeth.  In doing so she brings more than herself and more than she could have imagined.  Elizabeth in turn responds.  She is also filled with the Holy Spirit and confirms Mary’s faith and commitment.  The joy of Christmas is the gift given to all who walk with Mary in trust and service. This gift brings the fullness of life and joy during this season and beyond.
