Dear Parishioners,

The wonderment of the empty tomb on Easter morning turns to incredible joy as we hear in today’s Gospel the account of the Risen Jesus appearing to his disciples.  He is raised from the dead!  Alleluia!

We now prepare to celebrate in these coming weeks the gift of the Holy Spirit.  He promised to send it, and even asked his disciples, “Which of you fathers, if his son asks for a fish would give him a snake instead?…how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”  (Lk.11:11-13)  Let us pray for a renewed Holy Spirit in us this Easter Season.

A happy feast to those concluding the novena to the Divine Mercy.  May Jesus’ first words to his disciples be in your hearts as well – “Peace be with you!”

It had been the custom of the former St. Bernard to not have Baptisms on the fifth Sunday of the month.  To take advantage of an opportunity, we will offer tours of the church building those Sundays.  The next one is  April 29 after the 11:30am Mass.  All are welcome to tag along and ask questions the ‘who-what-when-where-and-why’ questions about our magnificent worship site.

At the doors of the church are booklets on Faithful Citizenship published by Catholic Answers.  Feel free to take on in preparation for another presidential election year.  Thanks to the Parish Men’s Group for sponsoring this information.

Are there other areas of Social Concerns in which we need to give our attention?  The Hunger Programs, our unique Catholic School, and outreach to the Spanish-speaking community have been important areas, but are there more?  Let’s meet and talk – Tuesday, April 17 at 7:00pm in the parish offices.  All are invited to attend.

            ¡Felices Pascuas!  Gracias a todos que hizo la celebracion de la Resurreccion del Señor una misa santa y llena de alegría, especialmente Leonardo y el coro, Rosa, los jóvenes Ushers, y los cocineros de la fiesta antes de la misa.  Era un buen día para el Señor Resucitado.

Felicidades a Dany y Patty Zaragoza quienes fueron casados por la Iglesia Católica.  Dios les bendiga con fe abundantemente y con su gracia para ser fieles en este Sacramento de Dios.

Esta semana pasada doce personas se reunieron para formar un concilio pastoral.  Hablamos de asuntos y necesidades de nuestra comunidad Católica, la historia de la comunidad después 30 años en el templo de St. Bernard, y compartimos ideas para el futuro.

Una cosa importante en nuestras discusiones fue la hora de la misa dominicales.  Quiero escuchar su opinión.  ¿Necesitamos mover la hora de la misa más temprano en los domingos?

Para las familias que tienen celebraciones como Bautismos, Primera Comuniones, presentaciones, etc.  una Misa poca más temprano posible sería mejor.  Díganos su opinión – 330-253-5161 – en la oficina.

Otra cosa de este concilio fue la participación de miembros de la comunidad.  Compartimos nuestra fe y  de compartir su tiempo y talentos.  Ya hay personas, pero personas que han hecho demasiado por demasiado tiempo.  Si vayamos siguiendo necesitamos su ayuda, oraciones, y participación.

Trabajamos en una peregrinación a la estatua grandísima en Windsor, Ohio, de N.S. de Guadalupe.  La parroquia va a proveer un “van” por rides a iniciar una fila.  El dia y la fecha van a ser anunciados pronto.

Favor de recordar a los enfermos y los jóvenes en sus rezas esta semana.  ¡Jesús es el Señor!  Alleluya.
