We have a number of events this week and ya’ll are invited. Please check the weekly or monthly calendar, and know You can be a part of it all!
Tour of the church this Sunday at 12:45pm. Ever wonder who is that?…or what’s that?…or why’s that there? See and learn a more about this beautiful worship site. Questions are welcomed.
Can’t believe the academic year is nearing an end. Monday night is our final PSR class for the year. Since we have few candidates for Reconciliation and Eucharist this year, children and families are celebrating First Communions individually. Please pray for those preparing and watch the bulletin for their special day.
It seems that the attendance at the 12:10 Daily Mass has increased considerably. Many in the congregation work downtown, and a good number work in the Justice centers. Can you imagine what their career must entail on a daily basis? How their Catholic faith influences their decisions? The wisdom they must need in a courtroom, the prudence when responding to a child in danger, or the courage to walk into a potentially dangerous situation.
As the son of a police officer and nephew to two others, I remember days my dad had to go to court because of an arrest he had made. I also know how that St. Michael medal he wore not only reminded him of his kids (we got it for him), but of his Lord watching over.
Tuesday, May 1, Bishop Lennon will be here at Noon to celebrate the “Red Mass” and to pray with and for the justices, lawyers, and law enforcement officials of our city and county. You are invited to join this special time of prayer, and honor Mrs. Ann Amer Brennan, Esq., with the Sir Thomas More Award. A luncheon follows.
Our school children from Grades 5-8 will be here to view the Progress&Promise Exhibit in the Upper Room (right of the sanctuary) and attend the 12:10 Mass on Wednesday. Please stop in after Mass today to see it.
A Selection Committee has interviewed a number of candidates who applied for the position of SB-SM School Principal. Mrs. Capotosto has decided to retire after 34 years of service to Catholic Education in our diocese. God Bless You, Rosemary!
This week I received a letter from Bishop Lennon who thanks us for our support to the 2012 Catholic Charities Appeal. This is their 100th Year and their help too many – including those in our parish – will continue with your pledged donation. Thank YOU!!
And Last but not Least – Our 1st St. Bernard-St. Mary Night at the Races. You’ve heard about it for weeks now, and so it’s Race Time – THIS Friday at 6:30pm at Emidio’s Party Center. A night of food, fun, and prizes to put some horsepower into a new Chevy Silverado for the parish, school, and hunger programs.
Let’s pray our endeavors bless others. Fr. Dan
