Dear Parishioners,

This weekend there will be a Second Collection for Faith and Values. You have an envelope in your mailed packets. For the benefit of Religious Education to the youth of our diocese.

This year every child must register for Religion Classes – whether the child(ren) are Homeschooled, attending a Cluster Parish PSR Program, another Parochial School, St. Mary Parish School, or our own Religion Classes on Monday Nights. It is important to have a record of every child of our parishes taking Religious Instructions somewhere, the text or materials being used, and a determination if the child requires a Sacrament. Matt and Mary Anne Jansen are our lead Catechists for Religion Classes to our youth this coming year. John Zmurk will instruct our teens. Please be prepared to register your child(ren) for Religion Class on September 9 and 16 after all the Masses or at any time before those weekends. Thank you for your cooperation.

The windows in the Sanctuary are nearly repaired. Crews still have to replace the plexi-glass type of material on the outer side of the windows and remove the scaffolding on the roof of St. Bernard.

Eagle Scout candidate Greg Rybka is working on a project at St. Mary. For his Eagle Scout Badge he is planning to do some landscaping around the church. His project will begin near the end of September.

Registrations at St. Mary Parish are coming in. I strongly encourage parishioners living in the parish to fill out a Registration Form. For those beyond the parish boundaries, involvement in the parish mission and ministries will be critical due to the concerns of the Catholic parishioners who live in our southern neighborhoods and attend our school. Please indicate whether you are requesting registration or simply have a particular interest in the parish or school when you fill out a form. Envelopes will be forthcoming for your convenience to record your donations for IRS reporting.

Welcome back to the University of Akron Students arriving or returning. Please be attentive to new and returning people at Mass. Extend a warm welcome! Check out the Newman Center.

Classes begin at St. Mary this Monday morning. School Mass will begin on Monday, September 10 at 8:10am. All are welcome to attend.

Adult Faith Enrichment will begin on September 5 for folks at both parishes. Our bible study of the Book of Revelation will be held in St. Mary School as in the past two years on Wednesdays, but this year following Mass at 5:30pm. Please Register at the Parish Office.
