‘A Night at the Races’ planning meeting will be held next Sunday, September 25 following the 9:30 Mass in the conference room off of the lower parking lot. If you would like to help plan this event and make it a successful fund raiser to buy a new truck and snow plow for our church and school, you are welcome to attend.

You play or sing? – We need people who play an instrument and/or like to sing to build up our Music Ministry here. Please call Jim Kintz at 330-253-5161 ext. 25 to offer your HELP.

In conjunction with our Cluster of St. Vincent and St. Sebastian there will be a 10th Anniversary Ecumenical Memorial Service on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 6:00 P.M. at Temple Israel, 133 Merriman, Akron. All are invited to attend.

Also, on Sunday, September 11th, the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, a Police Color Guard and Piper will be in attendance at the 8:00 a.m. Mass at the Cathedral in Cleveland. Immediately following the Mass, there will be a procession to the Superior Avenue side of the Cathedral for the blessing and laying of a wreath at the Safety Services Memorial.

Spirituality of Change – On Monday, September 12, our Parish Council will join with the Council, staff, and parishioners of the merged parish of Our Lady of the Lake in Euclid to reflect on the changes of merging parishes. Any interested parishioners can car pool with us at 5:00 PM from the church, dinner will be served there, and we will return by 9PM.

Beginning September 14 we will start learning the new Gloria, Holy, Holy and Memorial Acclamation to the Mass setting of the Mass of St. Paul the Apostle. We will later add the Amen and Lamb of God. We will continue to sing this Mass setting until further notice. Bishop Lennon has given permission to begin before November 27th so that everyone will be able to participate more fully during the Advent/Christmas Season. The words for the Gloria, Holy, Holy, and the three Memorial Acclamations will be inserted into the hymnals. Bishop Lennon has requested that all parishes of the Diocese learn this setting and be able to sing it well when we come together with inter-parish celebrations including weddings and funerals, as well as at the cathedral. This creates a common bond among all parishes and helps us be more united as a universal church. If you have any questions, please call our parish office at 330-253-5161.

High Schoolers and Parents – Mrs. Cathy Sivec, the cluster Teen Ministry Director, will be here at SB-SM Parish Social Hall at 10:30am, September 18, to answer any questions about the Teen Ministry Program.

A Retreat for High School Teens (ages 15-18) who are interested in experiencing the Catholic faith in a dynamic way are invited to be part of a Search weekend! Meet new friends who are also trying to follow the way of Jesus in today’s world. Search weekends are held at: Camp Christopher, 1930 N. Hametown Rd., Bath, Ohio. Cost: $70.00 per person. The youth from St. Sebastian, St. Vincent and St. Bernard/St. Mary will be working with the

Knights of Columbus from all three parishes to serve the poor in Akron!

Parents and teens can work together on this service project.
