Diocesan Gay-Lesbian Family Ministry is gathering for an Advent Prayer Service here at St. Bernard-St. Mary Parish at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 11th Father Norm Douglas will preside and Lisa Frey will offer the reflection. This prayer service will give all an opportunity to open their hearts for the Lord who is coming. The Ministry invites all to come and join us for prayer and for the following reception.

On Tuesday, December 6th, Fr. Michael B. Smith, pastor, Immaculate Conception, Akron, will reflect on “The Lives of the Saints: Comfort in Difficult Times” at   7:00 p.m. at Blessed Trinity Church in Akron.

Advent Weekend RetreatDecember 16-18,“Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord.” Directed by Patrick Cleary-Burns and Elizabeth (Becki)Haller. This will be a very prayerful, meditative, and contemplative weekend to prepare ourselves for the coming of the Messiah. Call Loyola  Retreat House to register at 330-896-2315.

St. Basil’s Adult Singles is having a “Rockin” New Year’s Eve Dance on Saturday, December 31 from 8:00pm until 12:30am at the St. Basil Parish Center on 8700 Brecksville Road, Brecksville. $10.00 admission. If you have questions, please call Patrick at 440-333-2823.

The Tribunal of the Diocese of Cleveland will be presenting the First Step Program at St. John Bosco Parish, Parma Hts. January 17th at 7:00 pm. This workshop is offered as a way to reach out to those whose marriage may not be valid in the Church. Even if it has been many years, all are invited and encouraged to attend and, hopefully, begin the process of re-establishing full communion within the sacramental life of the Church.

On Friday, January 20, David Parkes, Catholic, Pro-Life recording artist from Dublin, Ireland, will be presenting an “Evening of Prayer Through Song” at St. Mary Catholic Church in  Hudson at 7:00 pm. A reception will follow the concert.

Espero que pueda acompañarnos el próximo sábado en la Misa y la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.   La Misa bilingüe es a las 4:30pm y la Fiesta después en el Social Hall.  Los niños se han preparado con música, danza, y talento en honor de la Madre de Dios.  Vea el aviso siguiente.

Virgen De Guadalupe - Asociación Guadalupana de Akron y la Parroquia St. Bernard-St. Mary los invitan a la celebración del 480 Aniversario de la aparición de nuestra Virgen de Guadalupe. The St. Sebastian Parish Choir is hosting their annual Ceremony of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 11 at 3:30 PM. 476 Mull Avenue.

 

Disciples for the Dying- Mass is held on First Fridays of the Month. December 2 at 12:10 here at SB-SM Parish. In the future at St Vincent on January 6th at 6:30 AM and at St Sebastian on February 3rd at 5:00 PM.

 

Couples Day Out for all married and engaged couples will be held on Sunday, January 29th from 1:00-7:30PM at St. Sebastian Church. Guest speaker Art Bennett will give entertaining talks explaining how to appreciate your differences as a couple and how best to communicate with spouses of all temperaments. Attend Mass, renew your vows, enjoy a candlelight dinner and more. Registration deadline is January 18th. Night at the Races

St Bernard-St Mary Parish Night at the Races fundraiser will be held on May 4, 2012. Proceeds will go towards the purchase of the parish pickup truck and snowplow. The theme is “Race for Horsepower.” Tickets are not yet available, but gift certificates are available at $40 each for Christmas giving.
