This will be the Twenty-fourth Annual Blanket Sunday Collection to aid the needy. It is sponsored by the Diocesan St. Vincent de Paul Society. Due to lack of storage space we’ll sponsor a cash only collection. We’ll gratefully accept a cash donation and do the shopping for you, making your money go even further with bulk purchases of blankets and other items for low income families. So give someone a blanket for the winter — and give yourself a warm feeling!

The Rays of Mercy also will collect winter clothing that weekend at the church: socks, gloves, scarves, and hats.

A Baptism class will be held here at St. Bernard Sunday, Nov 21 from 2-4 pm in the main church. There is no cost and pre-registration is not required

REucharistic Apostles of the Divine Mercy invite you to bear witness through service to those in most need of mercy in our hurting world. New classes will start October 4^th from 5 to 7 pm. The Apostle of the Divine Mercy is a lay outreach mission of the Congregation of Marians of the Immaculate Conception.

XLT (Exalt) South! A praise and worship experience unlike any other, geared toward young adults, and the young at heart to encounter Christ through Eucharistic adoration, inspiring Christian music, & a powerful speaker. Topic: “Our World View”. In collaboration with St. Mary’s, Hudson, Newman Catholic Campus Ministry at The University of Akron is hosting this major event at St. Bernard-St. Mary in Akron from 6:30-8:30pm on Sept 22nd. Free parking in UA West Deck next to church. Refreshments available afterward.

Is a program of prayer, discussion, and spiritual support for men looking to deepen their Catholic faith. It will meet here on Saturday evening, September 18 at 6:45 in the Conference Room. More information forthcoming.

Monday, September 6th the parish office will be closed for Labor Day. Also, since it is a Holiday the mass for that day will be held at 9:30AM.

We’re going to open the CAFÉ on Wednesday evenings at our SB-SM School. We begin September 8 at 6:30-7:45pm. This first series of Studies for Adults will be Jeff Cavins DVD presentation of The Bible Timeline. If you have ever tried to get through the Bible but get lost will all the long names of who begets who, this series is for you. Classes are open to all and free. There is a very helpful workbook available for $30. Call the parish office to register 253-5161 and let us know if you want a workbook to go along with your studies. Fr. Dan will facilitate the course.

There will be training for all servers in September by Bill Sullivan, Deacon Ray, and Fr. Dan. This is a wonderful opportunity for our youth and adults to make an offering to God by assisting at His Altar. Qualified servers should have a desire to serve, able to follow instructions, and reverence for what they are doing.

Training Sessions will be held on Saturdays at 10am in the church: September 4, 11, and 18. Please call the parish office to register so we have a manual ready for you on the day of training. Servers at daily Mass will need to know the routine also, so please feel free to call.

Have you tried to read the Bible and got lost in all the minute details or confused with all those long names? Then you will find this Bible Timeline Course for Adults very helpful. The presenter, Jeff Cavins, takes you through the 12 books of the bible that contains the storyline of God’s plan for our lives. Fr. Dan will facilitate this course that will be held at our St. Bernard-St. Mary School on Wednesday evenings. Workbooks for the course are available. Register by calling the parish office 330-253-5161.
