Taizé Prayer at Our Lady of the Elms

Taizé prayer will be held at Our Lady of the Elms Chapel 1230 West Market Street. Taizé is Simple and meditative, an evening of contemplative prayer in the style of Taize` promotes serenity in all who participate. Invite your family and friends to accompany you. All are welcome. This will be the final prayer for this year.

The Divorced, Separated and Widowed Catholics of Akron is sponsoring a talk by John Pekarcik on “How God Uses People to Touch Other People’s Lives.” It will be held on Monday, March 8th at 7:30 pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Convent Building, 1945 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls. Plastic Bags Needed

St. Bernard’s Food Pantry is in need of plastic grocery bags. You can bring the bags with you to Mass or you can drop them off at the parish office.

Communion Service at 7 am next week

Fr. Clyde will be on retreat next week, do at 7:00 AM there will be communion services instead of Mass from Monday through Thursday. The 7:00 AM Mass will resume on Friday March 5.

Transfiguration: A Fork in the Road

There are moments in our lives when we are faced with decisions that change us and shape our lives. Sometimes we are not fully aware of how life-changing a particular moment and decision might be. At other times we at least have a sense, if not an explicit awareness, that we have come to a “fork in the road”. In Luke’s Gospel the experience at Tabor is such a life-changing moment for Jesus. Luke adds a detail to his source that makes this clear. Moses and Elijah converse with Jesus about His “exodus” – His journey to Jerusalem and His death. Jesus could have chosen to continue His very good work in Galilee and not place His life in serious jeopardy. But He would not have then have been faithful to His Father and His mission. In our Lenten journey toward a closer and more faithful discipleship of Jesus, we are called to learn from Him and follow His example in facing these life-changing moments in our own lives. Our transformation is an experience not merely of a moment, but of a life-time.

For insight and inspiration come to the St. Bernard Parish Lenten three evening mission, NEW WINESKINS: Going Deeper Into Our Catholic Tradition & Spirituality which will be held Monday, March 15th, Tuesday, March 16th, and Thursday, March 18th 7:00 p.m. -8:45 p.m. We will strengthen the connection between our ancient, yet ever-new Catholic Christian identity and spirituality and our contemporary fast-paced daily like, love and work. Includes presentations, reflections, music, fellowship and specific Catholic devotions. Primary presenters are Father Norm Douglas and Larry Vuillemin, cofounders of Heart to Heart Communications in collaboration with a mission team.
